Messages and notifications on the phone¶
Text or email a client from the field app, and keep up with your notifications.
Message a client¶
Messages you send go out from your company, not from your own number, and land in the same conversation the office reads — see The shared inbox.
To message a client
- Open Clients and tap the client.
- Tap Messages. The client's conversations are listed.
- Tap a conversation to open it — or tap Message, then choose SMS or Email. If the client already has a conversation on that channel, it opens; otherwise a new one starts.
- Type in Type a message... and tap Send.
What you'll see. Your message in the thread, titled with the client's name and the channel. The client's pets are listed at the top of the thread.
If a message shows "Not sent". Lupa did not accept it — often because the phone has no signal. Your text stays on screen: tap Retry to send it again, or Discard to drop it.
If it says "Could not load messages." Tap Try again. Until the client's conversations have loaded, the app won't start a new one, so you don't end up with two threads on the same channel.
If a thread says "Earlier messages could not be loaded". The thread may be incomplete. Tap Try again once you have signal.
Before texting a client who hasn't texted you first, check with the office that they've agreed to receive texts, or email them instead. See Getting customer consent.
A text goes out only once your company's texting number is set up. The phone doesn't show whether a message was delivered; the office can see how each message fared in the shared inbox — see Texting a customer.
Read every conversation (admins)¶
Admins have an inbox of every client conversation, newest first.
To open the inbox
- Open Settings.
- Under Messages, tap Open inbox.
Technicians don't see this; they reach conversations from each client's record. To start a new conversation, go to the client — the inbox lists and opens threads but does not start them.
Keep up with notifications¶
The bell at the top right of Agenda opens your notifications. A red badge on it counts the ones you haven't dealt with yet.
To work through notifications
- Tap the bell.
- Read each item. Each carries a level — Alarm, Warning or Info — and the time it was sent.
- Tap Acknowledge or Dismiss on each item as you deal with it.
What you'll see. The item leaves the list and the Unread count falls. When nothing is left, the screen reads You're all caught up. What each level means, and what raises a notification, is in Notifications.
