The map¶
See the day's work laid out geographically, person by person, with each technician's last reported position.
The map is the Map view of the Dispatch tab in Lupa Dash. It needs an admin account. Technicians have a map of their own day — see The map on the phone.
A 17-second silent clip of the switch from Chart to Map. It was recorded before the Routes view was added, so the toggle shows two views instead of three.
See the day on a map¶
To open the map:
- Open Dispatch and choose Map in the view toggle.
- Pick the date with the arrows or the date box, as on the chart.
What you'll see.
- Numbered pins for each person, in the order of their day, joined by a line in that person's colour. Choose a pin for the customer and time, and View visit to open the visit, exactly as from its card.
- Route colours for routed work. Visits at an address that belongs to a route are grouped under the route instead of the person, in the route's own colour — the same colour as the dot on its cards on the chart. See Routes.
- Unassigned work at addresses on no route as grey pins with no line. Unassigned work at a route's address is drawn with the route.
- The Open pool stays down the left, as on the chart.
Choose whose day is shown¶
The key in the top-right corner, headed Techs, is also the filter. It lists routes by name, then people busiest first, then Unassigned, each with how many visits it holds.
To change what is shown:
- Choose a row in the key to show or hide that person, route or Unassigned.
- Choose All to show everything, or None to clear the map.
- Choose one person's line on the map to show only them. All brings the rest back.
The map does not open on the whole day. It starts with the eight busiest people and every route switched on. Anyone past the eighth, and Unassigned, start switched off. Your choices are kept while the map updates during the day.
See where people are¶
Anyone with a lane who has turned on location sharing in the phone app shows as an extra pin in their colour, at the last position their phone reported. The pin shows only while that person's row in the key is switched on. Choose it to see how long ago the position was recorded — for example as of 4 min ago — and how accurate it was.
The phone reports only while the app is open on screen, about every five minutes, and when the technician taps Send my current location. Nothing is reported while the app is closed or in the background, so a pin can be well out of date. Past 15 minutes the popup adds — may be out of date. Read the age before you trust the pin.
Each person turns sharing on in their own phone app; you can't turn it on for them. See Sharing your location.
If something is missing or looks wrong¶
Some visits aren't on the map. Only addresses that have been found on a map can be drawn. A notice above the map says how many visits can't be shown — … can't be shown — no geocoded location yet. Correct the address on the service location and the visit appears. See Accounts and service locations. With nothing to draw, the map reads No geocoded visits to map for this day.
A line runs straight instead of along the roads. Lines follow the road network only where road routing is set up for your Lupa installation; otherwise they are always straight. Where it is set up, a straight line means the road path for that set of stops has not been worked out yet — it fills in on a later refresh of the map. The shape of a line never changes the schedule.
